When Ashleigh decides to flee her bully of a husband, Dominic, she knows he’ll hunt her down. The only way to escape is to disappear and reinvent herself.
Changing her name to Eliza and driving by night, she is drawn to the tiny rural town of Blinman. There she begins the long road to healing and regaining her self-confidence.
Then one day, on an excursion to a ruined homestead in the area, Eliza becomes fascinated by a family who lived there during the nineteenth century. But just as she begins to unlock the secrets of her own past, Dominic arrives in town, determined to punish her…
With a cracker plot and nail-biting suspense, Indigo Storm is the story of a courageous woman fiercely determined to reclaim her life and her belief in herself…
.
I discovered the Kanyaka ruins, part of where this book is set, when my partner, kids and I were on holidays in South Australia. I was amazed that these beautiful, half restored buildings were only a stones throw from where I grew up but I’d never heard of them before. I remember wandering around in a daze, imaging the stories and secrets the stone walls could tell – had the kitchen seen laughter and tears, what conversations had been held within the sitting room walls, how many people had been given diagnoses within the doctor surgery walls? To top it off, there was a little cemetery nestled into the side of a hill on the creek bank.
The main theme running through Indigo Storm is how my main character Ashleigh/Eliza has to remember who she was before she married Dominic. (You’ll notice she has two names – you’ll have to read it to find out why!) I’ve gone through some huge upheavals in the past two years and this is certainly something I’ve had to do.
It’s really hard to remember who you are, when you’ve been a mum, carer and farmer over the last twenty years. I’ve spent hours on the beach, or pacing up and down the creek lines at mum and dad’s, just thinking, working out what I want from life. Ashleigh/Eliza does the same thing.
Domestic violence is a big issue in the modern world. I honestly believe there can never be too much written or highlighted about this type of abuse. Being in the privileged position of having the ‘eye of readers’ I really wanted to show the dramatic effects this can have on people, not only while they are in the midst of it, but the after-effects too. Some women have don’t think they’ve been damaged by abuse, but their reactions tell otherwise – the sound of a car or voice can be enough to induce severe panic attacks. It’s also necessary to highlight that there doesn’t have to be bruises to be in a domestic violence situation – there’s a lot of different types and some of these are explored within Indigo Storm.
So with this in mind, I’d love to give away two copies of Indigo Storm – just answer this question:
Which of my books would you like to see a sequel written?

Any of your books are worthy of a sequel but if I have to choose one it would be Purple Roads, one of my favs of yours 😀
Fleur McDonald is a master at the romantic suspense genre! Love her work, and need to read more 🙂

Wow Fleur Amazing book, and its background.” Yes if only walls could speak. ” A book that is waiting to be lost in and make new friends with your characters and fade away from the world. Your words are powerful and unique. It reminds us to stay true to who we are always. xxxooo
I would love to seea sequel to Silver CLouds. and see where Tessa is now in her life, and new love Brendan. xxx
I have read any of books well i dont think maybe when i was younger. But it would be good getting into this book specially being Australian book to and being rural to.😊💜

Would love to read your book! Love stories where you can relate to the setting and Kanyaka ruins and the Flinders Ranges are among those memories.
A subject most would find hard to write about let alone read about glad you have written this book to show there is light at the end of a journey that most of us have not traveled
I would love to read a sequel of Emerald Springs, see what happens between Amelia and Paul.
I can’t wait to read this. Having been through a DV marriage, I think this might hit close to home.
I would love to see a sequel to Crimson Dawn. I really enjoy all of Fleur’s books but Crimson Dawn is my favourite.
Congratulations on your new release Fiona. I am intrigued about the nineteenth century family homestead Eliza finds herself immersed in and applaud you for the spotlight on domestic violence. The sequel I would like to see would be to Indigo Storm! That would mean a) that this release is a huge success - very likely from what I can gather, and b) that Ashleigh/Eliza has managed to accomplish what she set out to do! Best wishes, Jay
congratulations on Indigo Storm, Fleur. I’d love a chance to win a copy.
Wow I cannot wait to read another amazing story! This one sounds intriguing! Congrats! Love Aussie rural romance!
Congratulations Fleur, on the release of Indigo Storm. I have read most of your other books and initially I thought I would love to see a sequel to Silver Clouds, but after reading the synopsis of Indigo Storm with all the subject matter and the historical link, there is so much to explore I am sure you would easily stretch it to two books. Either way I look forward to reading your books. Well done to keep writing when you are going through your own life-changing drama.
I would love to see a sequel to either Purple Roads, Silver Clouds or Emerald Springs. I have read each of the books in a day! I couldn’t put them down as I was so eager to know what was going to happen next. From all of your amazing novels, it is these three that I would love to continue reading.
Can’t wait to read this.

I would like to see sequel to Crimson Dawn, expanding into the here and now, love rural romance with the intrigue mixed into the story. Love you’re books, can’t wait to read the latest, having a foot op, so will have lots of time to read
Sounds like it will be amazing!
Hi Fleur, I would adore an extension of the story of Amelia and Paul & their families farm. Their story hasn’t finished yet and at their engagement stage, you need to show us their next stage in life and how Amelia’s past can also impact on her newer relationship with Paul as they make that further commitment. Cheers xx
A very topical subject mixed in with a rural theme, sounds like good women’s fiction. I’d love the opportunity to read this book.
I would absolutely love to read a sequel to Silver Clouds, I would love to know what Tessa is up to, and how the love life is going. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Can’t wait to read another one of Fleur’s books. A great writer and somebody who I went to boarding school in Adelaide with many years ago.
Hi Fleur What a fantastic part of South Australia that this book is based in Kanyaka ruins is a fascinating place to roam through and can see why you loved writing about it Blinman is also another lovely spot that is seeped with history and just a wander through the cemetery there looking at history So moving Not sure what book I would like to see a sequel to as I loved them all Cant wait to read your latest book 🙂
I would love to read a sequel to Blue Skies. Fell in love in that book. Have read every book since and fall in love a little more with each character in each of Fleur’s books
They are all favorites - but I guess a sequel to Purple Roads would be a great way to start. I love how you write. x
Love your books Fleur. Descriptive and captivating, your stories are so believable and real. After travelling many parts of Australia your books are so relative to me, your descriptions of landscapes and life in the outback so realistic. Loved Crimson Dawn and would love a sequel to follow up.
Wow, this book sounds fascinating. I can’t wait to read it.
Any of Fleur’s books as sequals would be great I love sequals to books, to find out what is happening with people i’ve fallen in love with. Can’t wait to read this one
